Treated for Fleas & Ticks

All of our adoptable dogs have been pre-treated for fleas and ticks.

We use Frontline or Advantix Plus flea, tick and mosquito treatments every month and encourage our adopting families to continue this treatment for as long as they own their dog.

Even indoor dogs can catch fleas and other pests from cats, visiting dogs and their own yard. Parks, trails, and beaches are prone to fleas year round so be sure to treat your dog and wash its bedding in hot water every few weeks.

And if you have kitties or other furry critters at home, we want to ensure your new canine companion doesn’t bring in these pesky bugs, which can quickly affect everyone in the household.

How to Prevent Fleas & Ticks

  • Use a flea comb and comb through your dog's hair every week. Have a small container of rubbing alcohol ready to drop any fleas into.
  • Keep your yard free of debris like moldy leaves and grass clippings
  • Spray your yard every other month with a pesticide that specifically kills fleas and ticks
  • Wash your dog's bedding every week in hot water
  • Use a topical flea treatment on your dog that works on fleas, ticks and mosquitos. Don't forget to treat your kitty, too!
  • Keep your grass mowed and prevent weeds, both are prime flea and tick habitats
